Welcome to Prompt Duel. By accessing or using this service, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Prompt Duel in any way, you confirm that you are at least 13 years old and agree to these Terms. If you are under 18, you must have parental consent to use this service.

2. Description of Service

Prompt Duel is a narrative improv battle game in which players engage in text-based duels against AI opponents. The service includes:

• Free tier: Solo mode against AI opponents, limited to 3 duels per day
• Pro tier: Unlimited solo duels and access to multiplayer mode, available via paid subscription

3. Accounts

You may sign in using Google or GitHub authentication, or play as an anonymous guest. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

Anonymous (guest) accounts are limited to one lifetime duel. To continue playing, you must create a free account.

4. Subscriptions and Payments

Prompt Duel Pro is a recurring subscription billed monthly. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.

• Payments are processed by Stripe and are subject to Stripe's terms
• You may cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings
• Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you will not be charged again
• We do not offer refunds for partial subscription periods

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use Prompt Duel to:

• Generate, submit, or promote content that is illegal, hateful, threatening, or harassing
• Attempt to manipulate or exploit the AI scoring system through automated inputs or exploits
• Circumvent rate limits, subscription checks, or other access controls
• Reverse-engineer, scrape, or copy any part of the service
• Impersonate another person or entity

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently ban accounts that violate these rules without notice or refund.

6. AI-Generated Content

Prompt Duel uses third-party AI services (Groq, ElevenLabs) to generate opponent responses and voice audio. AI-generated content may be unpredictable and does not represent the views of Prompt Duel. We are not liable for the content of AI-generated responses.

By submitting moves in the game, you grant us a non-exclusive license to use that content to generate AI responses and post-game summaries within the service.

7. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, and branding associated with Prompt Duel — including opponent characters, game mechanics, and visual design — is owned by Prompt Duel and protected by copyright. You may not reproduce or distribute any part of the service without written permission.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

Prompt Duel is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI responses will meet any particular standard of quality.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Prompt Duel shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, including but not limited to loss of data or loss of revenue. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association, except that either party may seek injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes by posting a notice in the app or sending an email. Your continued use of the service after the changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
